ASHLEIGH
I’m SO loving these sweet words from my parents this year. They always make me tear up. Ashleigh is up next on the blog and as her mom states so eloquently, she is a beautiful, self-assured young woman. Ashleigh, you were a JOY to work with, best of luck in the future!
“Always remember you are kind, thoughtful, compassionate, smart, wise, and beautiful inside and out. Love yourself and you will never run out of love for others.” Love, the Grandmas
“Ash, I have been very proud for you to have called me Dad for the past 17 years. You have grown up to be an outstanding woman with her whole life ahead of her, and I’ve been fortunate to be first hand to watch the whole thing. Keep being you, don’t ever change and I’ll always be here for you.” Love, Daddy Steve
Dear Ashleigh,
As I reflect on your childhood, I am reminded of you as a toddler and your enthusiasm to do it yourself no matter what the task. “Me do it” was a popular phrase when you were little and really has carried forward through your school age years. You have always been an “achiever” and giving 100% is something you have worked for and value in others. I have marveled at your kindness throughout the years even when you weren’t on the receiving end. Your empathy is off the charts while sometimes to your detriment, you are a model of how to treat people. You have a very well defined sense of right and wrong and work to follow the rules. I have loved watching you change in high school from the girl who wanted to please everyone to a young lady who is confident and knows what she wants and how she wants to be treated. We always joke about your street smarts versus book smarts but I really feel in the last year you are taking on daily responsibilities and learning how to schedule your day to meet all of your competing priorities. It’s been a gift to watch you learn and evolve into this amazing young woman I am lucky enough to call my daughter. Even when you are hurting after a fight with a friend or a breakup, the self awareness and self management you display is way beyond your years. You aren’t afraid to be genuine and authentic. You are transparent and don’t play games often seen in kids your age. These are all great qualities that will serve you well. My advice for you in this current stage and in the future is to remember to find balance in everything you do. Work hard and play hard. Be true to yourself and always remember to take care of yourself first so you have the energy to care for others. Follow your dreams and above all else, remember that happiness isn’t found in money or things but in meaningful relationships and waking up every day to do something that lights you up inside. Take time to appreciate the small things and be authentic. You are such a special kid and I am amazed by you daily. Keep growing and don’t settle, your life is what you make of it.
Love you!!! -Mom
