2018 SENIOR
MITCH
Senior Week might be over but I still have quite a few amazing Seniors to highlight before graduation! Mitch is up next. This Pius X grad is #12 under the lights and this number became a bit of a theme during our session, popping up in fairly strange places.
Mitch’s mom is a rock star and managed to reserve the field for us. Knowing this ahead of time, I had a laundry list of shots I wanted to be sure and capture. The entire stadium… all to ourselves? The opportunities! We were all pretty pumped to get going with this portion of the shoot and arrived a bit early to the stadium.
It. Was. Locked.
Like, chains and really large padlocks on gates, locked.
But after a bit of exploring and some maneuvering, we got around that;).
Then, we moved onto the ‘entire field just to ourselves part.’ Quickly organized the equipment, prepped for our center field shot and…..
In came the cheerleaders. Yes, all of them. (They apparently also reserved the field.)
Ok, ok, no big deal. We moved over a bit, after all, they completely out numbered us. I was thinking, it’s ok, I still have access to the other parts of the field. Wait… what’s that sound? Ah, crud… I’d know that sound anywhere. It’s the drumline and it is getting LOUDER. We turn over our shoulders to find the entire Pius Marching Band heading towards us. It’s Band Camp week, and of course, they also reserved the field.
We surrendered. At least we still had the track.
Ten minutes later… here came the Volleyball team to run preseason sprints. Seriously. They TOO reserved the field.
The best plans are often interrupted when we are out on location, but sometimes, these interruptions create some pretty cool opportunities. At one point during the session, the only place we could work where we couldn’t see any school spirit in the background was a dark tunnel near the electrical corridor. A little spot I would have walked past and not given it another look until I was forced to.
Of course, it was our favorite image of the night.
