2018 SENIOR
EMMA
Have you ever tried to climb a tree two weeks after surgery for a torn ACL? Yeah, me neither. Emma on the other hand, suggested it herself. Its just how she rolls. This sweet girl had been through a lot in the two weeks leading up to her senior session. The injury (sustained during a ‘friendly’ of all things, my soccer seniors and families can relate to the frustration), surgery, the onset of recovery, and the realization that the injury was the end of Emma’s club/high school career… she had every reason to feel a bit down. But again, that’s not how she rolls.
We divided her Seniors into two different sessions. Yearbook deadlines forced us to get out and take advantage of the warm weather. A mere days after surgery, she was rocking her look and conquering the park on her crutches. Mom was a HUGE help getting us posed and moved from point A to point B, as well as helping me with MY equipment. (Have I mentioned before how much I love Moms? They are multi-tasking extraordinaries!)
Part two of her Seniors was after the crutches had been kicked to the curb. Although we dealt with some insanely cold weather, friends and a post-session soup run to Panera made it all better. It’s not often that I get to work with friends as close as Sarah, Jo & Emma. I knew that we simply HAD to work in some soccer snaps of all three of them together. The laughter was contagious.
Thankfully, Emma is on the road to a full recovery. She will be continuing her love of the game on the pitch in college at Nebraska Wesleyan!
