Seniors might be my specialty, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fun capturing whatever you are envisioning…

I can often be found in a dance studio, documenting my first love. Occasionally, I capture headshots and corporate images for local brands. When I’m lucky, I get to watch your family grow on the other side of my lens.

A story about imperfect moments

There is a meme that circles the internet every year around Christmas. It highlights a Mom’s plea that her children sit still and force a smile for just one photo. It makes me laugh every time I see it! Somewhat because I often see this same feeling in my clients, but also because I’ve experienced this myself…

I once planned a session for my lil’ crew and our new Cavalier King Charles puppy (because photographing your own children isn’t stressful enough… I decided to add four paws to the fun). I hired a photographer to meet us during the session to make sure I could be a part of the family. My kids were 7 and 9 at the time, and I knew that if I didn’t make this downright fun, no amount of bribing would propel us through the lengthy shot list I had carefully curated.

Naturally, I hit up my local Home Depot and built a giant tree swing from scratch. Which I then painted a perfect shade of red to match the color palette I’d spent weeks shopping for. Next, I managed to log 40+ miles trying to find the perfect tree from which to hang this swing. The one that stood alone, would be dripping in shades of Autumn, and outlined in that gorgeous golden hour glow. Not much to ask, right?

I FOUND IT.

And because I tend to overdo most things in my life, there were also color coordinated mugs, hot chocolate with oversized marshmallows, and an antique church pew (also painted that perfect shade of red).

Perfect Wardrobe + Perfectly Behaved Children + Perfect Location = Perfect Session

As I finished loading the car for our session (while internally congratulating myself on a job well done), I heard a large cry from the front yard. My husband had managed to hit my 9-year-old SQUARE in the face with a football. The lump was immediate and the bruising substantial. It wasn’t my favorite response to my spouse in the history of our marriage. Not to mention, I had a very upset child that I was pleading with to cooperate, despite him being in a good deal of pain. We arrived at the session with forced smiles (but the tree swing was a definite win).

Here’s the truth…

There is no perfect photo session, but there are many imperfect moments that deserve to be documented.

They are your memories…
your story

And I would be honored to help you capture them!
